This time, the cloud that we've been listening to these days. Let's take a look at what this cloud is and what its characteristics, its strengths and weaknesses are.

1. What is the cloud ?

First of all, cloud means "cloud," which means space that can be stored on a central computer through the Internet, not inside the computer that you worked on when storing computer files.

For example, if an enterprise uses the cloud, it processes its information in the cloud provider's data center rather than in the system it builds in the company. It's a model that doesn't own an IT 'asset' but 'use' it as a service.

What is cloud computing? : A model that enables easy access over the network from anywhere on demand through the integration of shared configurable computing resources (network, servers, storage, and application services)

2. Five Features of cloud Service

- The service can be used on the management screen for each user without manual operation by the operator.

- You can access the service with various devices such as mobile devices.

- Multiple users share and use the same computing resource. Resources are allocated for each user, but the user does not know which part of the system he has accessed.

- As needed, computing resources can be increased or reduced as much as necessary.

- There is a charge for using the service.

3. On-Premise vs Cloud Comparison

On-premise (Build Your Own System)

-Economic efficiency

: Proactively anticipate system usage peak times and buy that amount of equipment and software Other than peak times waste resources

: Economies of scale don't work compared to the cloud, so you can't expect price reductions

- usefulness

: Server deployment and system expansion require a high level of technology and enormous cost. Can't scale up or down lightly deployed systems

- Availability

: When server failover is required, actions such as redundancy and backup of the system are required

- Fast deployment

- After system design, procurement and deployment of hardware and Swiftware takes time

Cloud

- economic feasibility

: Use the function you want to use only for the period you want to use, so there's no waste

: Cost savings by enabling integrated management of software and data into the cloud to efficiently manage software and data

- usefulness

: Sell computing resources separately, so you can scale your systems as much as you need them, and when you don't need them, it's simple.

- Availability

: Often more reliable than their own systems because they've used disaster-preventive data centers or configured disaster-preventive systems to increase their availability

: Operators are disclosing availability

- Fast deployment

: Take advantage of the infrastructure prepared by cloud providers to quickly start building systems

In the case of the cloud, there are many advantages that are difficult to convert to cost, such as reducing investment risk, reducing the burden on operational personnel, and increasing the efficiency of work through the use of the cloud.

* Cloud Disadvantages

1) The Internet must be available - if it doesn't, you won't be able to access the cloud.

2) Slow - of course it's slower than connecting to a system built on its own inside.
